Parachute

Do You Need A Parachute?

Do you ever find yourself feeling like you are free falling out of a plane and your parachute is not on your back or you are desperately pulling the cord and it is not opening? Or do you feel like your life is swinging out of control like you are on a trapeze swing without a net below you?

This thing we call life is not always easy. It is not always smooth sailing. As we, as wives and mothers, try to balance all of our responsibilities we sometimes find ourselves grasping for something, anything, to steady us. The kids need us to help with a project, our husband needs us to run these errands, the house looks like a tornado went through it and we have no idea where to start. We want to crawl back into bed and wish it to all go away. But alas, we cannot do that. If we did, it would all just be waiting for us the next day.

Some things that may help you overcome feeling so out of control are:
Daily quiet time with God
Praising God for the things you have – even if they are out of control (a sink full of dirty dishes means you have eaten today!)
Finding a mentor or a group of mentors to help you (Titus 2)
Make sure your priorities are straight (God, husband, children and then everything else in the order you feel God would have you put them in).
Get some routines in place and stick with them

Psalms 29:11 says “God makes his people strong. God gives his people peace.” When we are in the middle of turmoil, when we feel like we are falling without a parachute, God is there to make us strong and to give us peace! God is our rock and our deliverer, we can call on His name and be saved!! (Psalms 18:2-3). We can lean on God and ask Him to give us direction, even in the middle of trying to balance all of our responsibilities. As we keep our priorities straight and depend on God to help us through them, He will be there to be our parachute or our safety net.

Some times God takes us through trials and situations to help us grow. He wants us to learn patience or some other virtue; or He wants to equip us to help someone else along the way. Sometimes we need to just hang on for the ride. But we can always know that, no matter what, God is always right there beside us.

Are you willing to let Him be your parachute?
