The County Fair...........

We survived a week of county fair - or should I say Brandi survived! LOL  Poor girl, she is a 10-12 hour a night sleeper and she got on average 5.5 hours each night the week of the fair.  The fair she showed at is the next county over (with 4H group/homeschool group from church) so she stayed most of the week with her best friend (where her goat is boarded).  Her best friend showed goats like Brandi and also ducks and rabbits.  They spent about 16 hours/day at the fair - caring for animals, taking care of barn chores, answering questions of people coming thru animal barns, etc.
The fair ended Thursday evening and Brandi started a 3 day conference on Thursday so she spent Thursday at home (babysitting in the morning) preparing for and leaving for the conference that was from 4-9.  I picked her (and another friend) up at the conference (an hour away) and drove straight to fair grounds so Brandi could go help with final barn chores and loading animals to take home (that included ducks, rabbits and about 9 goats).  I picked her up Friday morning from friends house & she came home and slept (LOL) until time to get ready for 2nd day of conference.  The final day of the conference was Saturday from 9-4.  She had a good time at that - it was put on by Intercultural Communicators for Christ.
We spent more time at the fair than we normally do since Brandi was there.  I usually take the kids for a few hours on either Tuesday or Wednesday - the schools are all out on Monday so sometimes we go on Monday but normally do not like the crowd so we wait LOL  But this year Rachel & I, along with RJ, went to the fair on Saturday morning around 9:30 so we could watch Brandi show (we missed first one :( but she did well placing 4th in that one which was showmanship).  Rod's meeting got canceled so he came down (& RJ left for ball game) and spent the rest of the time with us. Brandi had a couple more showings and placed 1st in one (ok, she was the only one in that 'class' but hehe) and 2nd in another.  I think she did extremely well since she has never been in 4H or did any type of shows before.  We left around 4-4:30.  RJ's game got canceled so he came back to the fair & he stayed until about 9 or 10 - Caitlin was working in one of the food trailers & the tractor pull was that night.
We went back on Monday and spent the morning, I left kids there & came home for daycare kids and then dh & I went back after he got home from work & all my kiddos left.
It was just a crazy week.
We have started school and it is going well (although we did very little last week wtih fair going on).  I am pleased with all of our curriculum this year and the kids are enjoying it as well.
